Most private sandbar charters run 4 to 6 hours and combine the sandbar with a bit of cruising. A typical day looks something like:

• Anchor at the sandbar for 2–3 hours of swimming, floating, and music
• A stop at Raccoon Island nearby to hand-feed the resident raccoons
• Keep an eye out for dolphins and manatees on the way in and out

Biscayne Bay is genuinely alive. It's common to spot dolphins cruising past on the way to or from the sandbar, and manatees are frequently seen in the calmer, grassier shallows nearby. Nothing is guaranteed — they're wild animals — but a sandbar day is one of the better times to see them, since you're moving slowly through the exact shallow water they prefer.
