Raccoon Island — officially Sandspur Island — is a small, uninhabited mangrove island in Biscayne Bay, a short boat ride from Miami Beach. There’s no bridge and no public dock: the only way to visit is by boat.
A colony of wild raccoons lives there year-round and walks right down to the shoreline to greet the boat. It’s one of the most unique things to do in Miami, and one of our most family-friendly tours. Combine it with the celebrity homes of Star Island or a sandbar stop.

In Miami, almost every boat rental comes with a captain — and ours always do. You don’t need a boating license or any experience: your USCG-licensed captain drives, anchors and plans the route while you relax. Unlike a shared boat tour, a private boat rental means only your group is on board, and you choose the stops.

Most of our Miami boat tours leave from 2400 Collins Ave and cruise Biscayne Bay past the celebrity mansions of Star Island, then head to Raccoon Island or the Haulover sandbar for a swim. Longer charters can reach Nixon Sandbar or Soldier Key for snorkeling.
